Guided Propagation between two Metallic Planes

Wave guides are classified in two categories: closed guides and opened guides. This course  permits to understand the fundamental differences between opened guides and closed guides.

One issue in propagation in opened guides is the refraction. To illustrate this phenomenon through simulations, the ray method could be used. The first lesson shows the maximum angle above which there is a refraction phenomenon. In the second lesson,  we will see how a rectangular closed guide can be single mode and especially understand how the cut frequency of different modes varies with the dimension of the guide. Finally, lesson three presents how an optic fiber can work and especially understand how to make the light staying inside the fiber (i.e. non-dispersive fibre).
