1. The system architecture
HIPERLAN/2 (HIgh PErformance Radio Local Area Network type 2) platform is a Wireless LAN and it is considered
as an in-door network where users would demand improved services in terms of data rates and quality. HIPERLAN/2
is an ETSI standard designed to enable wireless access to different networks such as IP, UMTS and ATM. HIPERLAN/2 will allow user mobility inside a building maintaining certain
level of Quality of Service (QoS). Figure 9.1 shows possible architectures of the HIPERLAN/2 system.
